Threaded hole not showing in STL

Hi All,

downloaded Fusion 360 yesterday, and just finished my very first project. However the exported stl file does not show the threaded hole. Does it ean it will be a simple hole after printing, or is it only missing in the stl preview?

Edit the thread feature from the timeline and enable the modeled option.

Problem is that now the hole is closed from the top.

Can you export the model and attach to this thread. Save as an f3d file.

I now created another plane a bit higher than the very top, sketched a circle and extruded it down into the other existing hole with the changed/molded thread in it. Now it seems good, however I try to load it, so you could have a look(which would be highly appreciated!)

Just don`t know how, but will figure it out!

Dear Mark,

I noticed that the thred was not continous, so I deleted the holes, created another plane few mm above the top surface of the object, created a circle, extruded it down through the object and created a new modeled thread. Now everything seems OK. Big thanks for your support!!!!

EDIT I started this post before your last message but I think this is the cleanest way of fixing your problem.

What you've ended up with might not work because the thread doesn't run out through the hole you added. You can fix the problem with a bit of reordering of the timeline, see screencast below. I've attached the file, I also deleted 2 of the forms you had in the timeline as they didn't seem to do anything.

I have similar problem with my drawing.

Is there any Fusion 360 gurus who can help?

I learned Fusion 360 last weekend and created a special bottle (figured below). In Fusion 360, the top of the bottle looks ok, but when it is rendered in STL, there exists an unintended wall at the top (arrow 1 in figure). Also the center top circle wall (arrow 2) shouldn't be there as well. Also there is a wall (arrow 3) that I cut out using extrude tool but it still appears. I tried to rearrange the history to fix these two problems as recommended but it didn't help.

I am attaching fusion file below.

There is something wrong with your attachment (it is only 22k).

Go to File>Export to save your file locally as a *.f3d file and then Attach the file here (you might try File>New Design from File to open it yourself and verify before Attaching again).

Are all of your Sketches fully defined (I will wager that the answer is No)?

Oh I think there was a problem while exporting the file.

The new file is attached. It seems the file is much larger now.

Just for the protocol: You can switch this for the complete design via Browser -> Document -> Settings -> Threads, too.

I saw quite a few issues with your design.

My advice would be to start over from scratch using what you learned from this attempt to improve the design and the modeling technique.

1. Particularly - Fully constrain each and every sketch as you go. If you cannot figure out how to fully define a particular sketch - STOP - and ask questions.

2. Look for obvious symmetry in the design and make use of this symmetry.

You should be able to dramatically reduce the number of Timeline features and improve the aesthetics of the design.

(And functionality - I would have a lead-in Chamfer for that thread and make sure features are logically connected.)

Thanks for all the advices and examples. I really appreciate it!

It seems it requires more skills than I thought is needed to make a design in Fusion 360.

I also realized I don't need to use thread utility for creating the thread on the bottleneck - I will try to use coil utility when I redesign from scratch.
