Afternoon Ladies/gents,

Having a bit of a brain freeze.

Have imported a profile sketch(dxf) to perform a revolve funcion for a few parts and I can create the bodies/components as required no problem. When I try to create a sketch on any of the horizontal surfaces other than the origin of the revolved part it only snaps to the origional x,y z planes. I can select and high light the surface/push pull of the body but there is no option to create a sketch for the other surfaces. bit of a bummer....

Weird......

Anyhoo created a quick copy of it in a new design and it works just fine. I can just redraw it which wont take long but thought I would Put it out there incase I have missed something glaringly obvious........

Any ideas what could be wrong with the source file that would creat this behaviour?

I have went over it and it looks clean

any ideas?

Hi All,

Fresh eyes and a different approach this morning fixed the issue.

I had applied parrallel constraints to the sketch before applying the revolve function however for some reason it didnt seem to be applying those rules and wouldnt allow sketching on the surfaces created by the revolve. I dont know if it was a bug or just some simple iky gremlin but there you go........

I cleared all the constraints and reapplied them and now the functions and sketches are working fine.

Something to try if this is giving you gip in future 🙂

Bill
