loft a hull

Hi, I'm trying to loft a hull design with both fore and aft with sharp edges. I'm using loft command in patch environment but it don't work. What do I do wrong? /Martin

Hi again. Thanks for instruction how to attach a file. Here you have the file where I'm trying to loft the hull around the spline lines. If I use a flat aft i can loft but it seems like when I want sharp edge of the aft I don't get it to work. How come?

Loft in Fusion is unlike loft in surface modelers it somewhat can do many things at once - meaning they implemented function from

multiple tools into one.

So regarding your boat you cannot loft it because loft needs either

1. profiles that are apart from each other to skin a surface through them like a band

2. profiles where the ends touch each other so we we can make surface like a sphere or umbrella

traditionally for boat design you can also use vertical profiles and loft rail them

at around 3:30 he starts going into lofting. This tutorial helped me learn loft.

Hmm. I wanted to try it with Inventor.

But none of F360 export capabilities seems to be able for export of sketch geometry.

Is it fact, or am I missing something?

That's funny. This is a technique I developed in Inventor and this is my first Fusion part.

I can post an ipt. What version of Inventor?

Actually, what I was trying to achieve by posting my file was to discern the design intent from the original poster. Do the rails he shows represent the keel, chine and sheer of a hard chine hull? If so, perhaps my approach could work.

Hi rhinterhoeller. No, this is not what i´m struggling with. The challenge is to loft a hull with sharp ends in both front and aft of the boat.

Hi, It does represent the keel, chine and sheer of a hard chine hull but the difference to your hull is the shape in aft.

no worries - you did not miss anything.

currently the loft code sometimes has still issues with selecting profiles as new edges and not joining them.

i had the same problem till I figured out why loft did not want to work
