Ok so, after messing around for quite awhile I have found a super easy and quick way of making rifling of any type and any size. so the first thing you will want to do is create a new sketch and make two circles and a rectangle like this:

After you have done this go ahead and open up a circular sketch pattern and select the whole rectangle you made and then the centerpoint of the circle. after that go ahead and choose how many cuts you want to make, I chose 8 as you can see.Once you've done that then make a line going from the middle straight up to whatever length you want the barrel to be.After that the create a coil from the center to the outside edge. It will look something like this.

Now edit the coil so its as long as the guiding line you made. and also change the revolutions to a small value like 0.5 or 0.7 depending on how long your barrel is. make sure the coil is on new body and then click ok and it should look like this:

Now create a sweep command and for the profile select path + guide rail, for the profile select the outline of the barrel, for the path select the guide line, and for the guide rail select the outside of the coil. Make sure the operation is set to new body not cut, once that's done hit ok and bam! There's your rifled barrel. now just select that coil and delete it and there you go!dont forget to delete the coil!

Hope this is useful to everybody searching of a solution like I was.

@Anonymous

Of course is it possible

Make a hollow tube

add a coil

set the values

use a square profile

use solid combine cut to remove the coil shape from the inside of the hollow tube

use circular pattern to add more cuts

Rifling done.

One problem with coil is it deforms quite badly with coarse pitches and the twist rate for riling is something like one turn in 200mm according to google.

So a 2.5mm square section ends up like this. We really need the form perpendicular to the helix!

Isn't there a way to fix this accuracy issue regarding the coil and sweep??!

It's such a pain and a silly limitation for Fusion to have

But I guess it's just as Mark said, it's about the perpendicular helix after all

@SaeedHamza there are no ways to fix this that are in our control as users. The coil tool is listed under the primitives in Fusion 360. These could be tremendously useful but all of them suffer from implementation shortcomings. We've complained for 2 years about the coil tool and these issues come up with regularity.

There are the usual workarounds that also have they limits and pollute the timeline with "stuff:that should actually be necessary.

You basically use the coil tool to create a coil and I mostly use the triangular profile. Then you can throw most of the geometry away and use an edge of the helical profile to create a plane on path. On that you sketch your profile. You'll likely need a second coil or in some instances can use the vertical axis as a rial to control the twist of the sweep. I've not tried this with the newest incarnation of the sweep tool.

In other CAD application you simply can create a helix as a sketch and fine your own profile without having any twist problems. This was easier with Solid Works 10 years ago!

This is something we also as EEs suggestion to the development team to fix.

I have one test suit that shows every approach I use with the coil tool simply will sooner or later break.

Till that is not fixed these simple geometries will be problematic in Fusion.

And as Peter mentioned also workarounds will be not a good option because of other problems you will find.

The solution is to fix the real problems in Fusion.

the more users report / request mugh needed improvements to modeling tools and general modeling abilities the higher the chance the development team will put more focus on core tools than modules that build upon what sketch and model/patch creates.

Meh. The Coil tool blows chunks. I find most challenges better solved by just sweeping with a twist angle input.
