CAD model - MULTI LAYERING FOR COLOR CHANGE

I would like to know how to turn a already built model in fusion in to a 2 layer model so it goes from a single solid color to 2 colors that can be changed?

Hi @Anonymous

If you can see clearly the several components in your model, you can group them into different colors with the tool "Component Color Cycling Toggle".(Shift + N).

It is inside "Inspect" .

@Anonymous: There are no "layers" in Fusion. There are, however, bodies and components. If your design is split into multiple bodies or components, you can use the Appearance command to change the color of each body or component.

If you post your design here, and a bit more info about what you are trying to do, you will get lots of suggestions.

Hello

Thank you all for taking the time to answer. I have uploaded the file.

Basically what i would like is the corners of all 5 sides (bottom excluded) of the cube and the 3 hearts in the center to be ONE component and the rest of the cube be ANOTHER.

Hi,

The problem you have right here is that this is a mesh body, it can be converted yes, but your case is different ( watch picture below )

this body of yours can't be converted, because of its high percentage of triangles

so try from modify, like this

this is the result of convert ( error )

now even after converting your body to be editable, the main problem is how to separate the corners to give them a different appearance

as for the hearts, you can draw a circle and then use it to split the body,and that needs to be done 3 times, one for every 2 faces, and the result will be like this

as for the corners to be detached from the body, I really don't think that you can do it in your case

I made a screencast of what I think is the best choice in your case ( detaching the corners and the hearts )

note : in my previous comment, I thought the hearts were of the same height of the faces of the body, but they are not, so this way happen to be a lot better

Thank you for response. I tried to duplicate your screencast but fusion
wont let me select the "Body to split" about 3 seconds in to the video. I
do not know what I am doing wrong.

Yes, that's because you didn't convert the body

I mentioned that in my first post

here is how to do it

and use the patch environment to "Merge" the triangles togather with the chain selection on

I didn't have any trouble converting the mesh to brep and creating the parts.
