Can you engrave lines?

I wish to essentially engrave a giant ruler for my boat, it will be a marked off every centimerter up to 133 cm for measuring fish. Only thing is, can and how do I engrave lines? I plan to sketch the ruler on a 6" x 56" solid, but can I tell the cam to follow the lines? If so I havent figured it out yet.

The ways are numerous. What tools do you have available to you, maybe someone here can help. On this section of the forum (Design, Validate, & Document) you can get help with the model. Then you can head over to the cam section for help getting fusion to control your tool.

Model the ruler as a box.
Create a sketch on the top face with the ruler lines and text. Don't extrude the lines into box.
In CAM, create a new setup with the box as the model.
Sketch needs to be visible.
Use a Trace operation for the lines. I use a 60 degree V bit with a cut depth of .005" in plastic.
Use an Engrave operation for the text. Depth of cut will depend on the V bit and the weight (wider or narrower) of the text.

Hi,

You can create a sweep along the line you are talking about with a really small diameter and then use the combine tool to cut it from the boat body

I'm not really familiar with the cam environment, I just wanted to give him
an idea on how to actually do this as a modeling process.🙂
