Hey there!

I have a background in Autodesk Inventor and for my YouTube Channel I've recently switched over to Fusion 360.

Really like the tool except for one detail.

I'm used to quickly insert standard parts like for example screws right from within the content center of Inventor.

As far as I know the Fusion way of doing this would be through Mc MasterCarr.

But honestly? This is really a pain if you live outside of the US.

I barely find any metric components in there.

Also like in a recent Fusion YouTube video explained it's not good to have many parts from there unless you manually remove threads to save a ton of performance.

Also the content center automatically dimensioned components based on holes and other criteria.

I fully understand that Fusion is not even close to be comparable to Inventor. But in my eyes this is one of the main things I'd expect from a modern CAD software.

So my question is: Is McMaster Carr the proper way to do that in Fusion 360 at the moment? And is there anything like a content center planned in any future release?

Thanks a lot! 🙂

Cheers,

Robin

At the moment there are really no provisions for library parts in Fusion 360. Whether that's components, features, sketches etc. that form of data management is in its infancy in Fusion 360.

If that matters depends on what you are actually designing in Fusion 360. The area where I have spent most of my career is industrial machinery and custom factory automation systems. In those areas, I agree, this sort of feature amongst a number of others are key to working productively.

I would not go so far as to say it's not on any road map. But, yes, the API might be a way to create tailored applications.
