this one is challenging. This is my quick stab. couldn't get both sides of loft to have a tangency connection because they come together at a point at the top. always a self intersection problem in that situation. There are approaches to fix that. As the others mentioned, the input geometry is already a mess, so this may be good enough?

Hello,

Does anyone have any idea on how to loft this corner?

It seems simple and straight forward. What am I doing wrong here?
I have used similar functions in other software without issue, Any idea on how to loft this correctly?
Or a different process to achieve a nice capped corner?

Cheers

You need a single rail curve, can you chain select where you have 3 rails. And as I asked in your other post, can you export your f3d file and attach?

In this case Sweep visually looks fine but only because we deal with an arc fillet and tangent planes!

With G2 fillets this fails - just be aware of it

Actually not at the moment. Loft lacks the tools for it when dealing with G2 or non circular geometry.

Mainly the G1 G2 option for rails are missing - but should be added soon.

All poking in the dark without the OPs model. All his edges are made from 3 curves, assuming it's 2 lines and an arc there could be problems if the lines are not tangent to the arc.

Mark

Edit One edge has 4 curves, I think that puts a sharp corner in there unless the 2 top faces are coplanar. Not sure how loft will deal with that.

can be that through exports the original data got lost or changed but this is a total mess

rebuilding will be faster - however to be honest I think Fusion currently is not able to do this sufficiently.

their tools are more focused on easy simple geometry and not something like this which has uneven sides

Woah how did you get that view? of all of the disjointed surfaces?

Thanks for the tips on point loft

You're beyond helping my friend, this model is really messed up ...

Nothing accurate to use ... I think that the patch is the best thing to do with all this, other than that forget it

I recommend you as @cekuhnen said above to rebuild the model, it will be a lot faster for you and your client

this one is challenging. This is my quick stab. couldn't get both sides of loft to have a tangency connection because they come together at a point at the top. always a self intersection problem in that situation. There are approaches to fix that. As the others mentioned, the input geometry is already a mess, so this may be good enough?

@Anonymous

I exported the design as STEP to open it in MOI which is a cheap Rhino clone and a basic NURBS modeler (pretty easy to use and quite powerful).

The colored edges are the raw surfaces. I untrimmed all the details to see how the design was constructed to see if there is something I can do with

it but the parts are such a mess ...

Also I took another try on the model and cannot build it with a surface perfection I expect. The geometry is pretty crazy.

So my question is how far can you rebuild and clean it up for your client? Fusion 100% lacks the ability to do what you want.

However the data the client gave you is also plan crazy

There are plenty of inaccuracies - lazy edges, edges that have sharp and not smooth transitions and such.

If you can adjust those then this model can be rebuild much easier in Fusion.
