Can't Move Line in Sketch

This is becoming increasingly frustrating. If I double click a line to highlight it, I can't move it. If I copy and paste into another sketch, then I can move it if I window select everything; lines and points. How am I supposed to move the line in my sketch? I changed my selection filter and deleted all visible constraints. What else can I do?

The actual file or a small portion showing the problem is required. When you copy a line you can paste it into the same sketch. It's not necessary to put it in another sketch.

If I simply double click the line, select copy, and then paste, I still can't move it. As far as sharing a portion of the file, if I could do that, I could move this line.

Hi,

Fisrt, if you copy a line, it should move, because a copy doesn't have constraints

Second, if you want to move the original line, make sure you removed all constraints

And finally, just in case, make sure you're in the sketch environment

If any of this didn't solve your problem then please go to file > export > .f3d and attach your file to your next post

How? Thats basically what he is asking. I have the same frustration. Found tutorials about adding constraints but what to do if you want to take it off to move something?

What I see happening is if I don't select _every_ sketch point -- even the
center of radii -- I can't move the line.

Fusion 360 is very unintuitive in simples action like moving a line, moving an object to somewhere precisely (point to point, face to point, etc), selecting faces, lines in an object, etc. Autodesk team please look at other direct modeling software like Design mechanism, DesignSpark, etc.

I am still looking at how to move lines.

Moving lines, faces, features, etc as following, as you can see it is very intuitive. Duplicate an object is only ctl+move.

Hi,

you claim that functions in Fusion are not intuitive.
Then link two product videos with the statement that only one link is needed for an action.

Where is the juxtaposition to Fusion?

By the way: Intuitive is everything I know or am familiar with.

Fusion 360 is definitely one of the most unintuitive 3D modeling tools I'v used. Saying that as UX designer. For example to do the simplest 3D modeling actions like moving things around, there is different approach for different types of objects and many of them are unmovable. It is extremely frustrating. Default shortcuts (at least on mac os) are also very unintuitive. From the videos I'v seen, everyone is changing the defaults for moving around the scene cause it is very inefficient. By default, mouse controls don't do almost anything. All that said, Fusion 360, definitely very steep learning cure and software which you have to google a lot just to do the most basic stuff. Btw nobody answered the question, so it is apparently very hard to just move a stupid line.

because a file was never produced to examine.

in the pics posted though, you can clearly see that he has constrained the lines to projected geometry from another sketch, so it makes sense that the line wouldn't move.

i had the same issue. i solved it by right clicking the line and selecting "delete coincident" I did that to all the lines i wanted to drag around and it was good to go.

Perhaps you are trying to edit a projected line.

In Fusion360, projected lines cannot be edited.

This may seem rather cramped at first for those who have migrated from other CAD systems, but it is one of the most important aspects of using Fusion360.

Learn to design without moving or trimming the projected lines as much as possible.

If you must edit them, select them, right-click, and choose Unlink.

Now the projected line is just a projected line that is not linked to any other line and can be edited.

However, since it is not linked, it will not work with other elements.

At first I too found the non-editable projected lines inconvenient, but I'm used to it now.

I also find it inconvenient sometimes, but with time I no longer find it so.

This is getting realy stupid now.. a line with all constains and dimensions deleted and still cannot be moved ..

i have to delete the line - redraw it , then place it again with coinsidents to touch ,,then it moves but the line next to it frezes..

other case now that i remember --a line totaly blue with all dimensions and constraints deleted while free to move by mouse cannot accept dimension..

it says i should delete the dimension i just declared... its getting realy frustrating and above all very time consuming.. i have projects to deliver , not mess around in some beta development software..
