See video for demonstration of what I'm seeing. Note that I DID do a "RECOMPUTE ALL" and that still didn't fix it.

Hey @fritter63,

Quit simple. You mirrored the bodies and not the component, which is why it's not working. Joints works on Components and not on Bodies!

You need to mirror the component and not the bodies.

Thanks Ben, but that's actually not true.

I did mirror the components (I just double checked). And as I pointed out in the video, it's not the mirrored ones that failing to move, but the actual joined components themselves.

I'd have to agree with @Beyondforce's assessment. There's nothing inherently wrong with your design, but its very inefficient.

This would be a perfect design to start with a skeleton sketch, which in this case could have been complete side view of the table.

From that skeleton sketch you could create all the components in place that are needed for a complete side assembly and then use a simple rigid group on that assembly o assemble everything in place.

If the sketch is constrained and dimensioned properly everything would update properly including assembly joints.

One important thing to consider when starting a design is symmetries, of which there are several in this design. If you learn to leverage those you'll save yourself a lot of work and headaches.

Thanks for the advice, but I did it exactly the way I wanted/needed to.

So, can anybody actually answer why the joints are working correctly? I'd really like to know if there is a problem.

What matters is the "How"!
I have showed you how to model correctly using Fusion 360 and if you will follow my recommendations, you won't have problems in the future. If you continue modeling the way "You want to" and not following the basic Fusion 360 recommended workflows, you will keep pulling your hair and modeling won't be pleasant.
If you don't want to listen to me, then at least listen to @TrippyLighting!

Cheers.

@Beyondforce I am not a novice to F360. I've used it to model guitar necks and parts quite successfully.

I FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU HAVE RECOMMENDED.

Now get over it.

I have done what F360 says to do with components and joints. Everything is a component. I have joined them together. And yet the joints don't move as they should. My understanding is that they should. Are you saying we should not join components together unless they're as built joints? I don't think so. If you can't answer, please just stand down and let somebody else do so.

I've looked through your assembly and this should actually work. I believe there's a bug in it.

When you copy paste and move the Side assembly everything is OK. However, when you then assemble the Leg that's part of the Side assembly to the Stretcher the sketch and the two Stiles are not moving with the assembly. That should not happen! @jeff_strater could you look at this ?

One observation. Your design method needs a cleanup. When designing object with primitives you should still be starting the sketch at the sketch origin, which will coincide with the origin of the component the sketch is in. When showing the origins of all the components they are all over the place. Origins are important and are the first thing I am looking at when debugging other users design. By that I assess the experience level of a user 😉

Hopefully my waffling in the screencast is somewhat understandable.
