Making a slot for a Pin-Slot joint from an arc path

I been playing with Fusion 360 for a while now but just now started to mess with components and joints. The slot tools does not seems to recognize arcs, so a solution I though is the process seen in the screencast provided. But in my model it doesn't play well with the Pin-Slot joint at all, sadly.

Is there a method of making a slot I don't know of? Thanks in advance 🙂

The slot menu now contains two tools for creating curved/arced slots:

If this does not work well with the in slot tool, then we'd need to see a screencast of how that looks like, or the model where that fails.

that almost solves a problem i have been having for a year, with no resolution.

getting a pin to follow a curved slot.

but, my slot has a straight section at the end of it.

i will try to make a quick part to show what i am doing and post it.

Yep, it does. Almost. Because that straight section is exactly the problem!

The idea for a path following joint has been posted a loooooong the ago.

Movement along tracks/paths and telescoping as joint options

Assembly Environment a joint should be move along a path not straight.

I bet using different terminology you'll find more than this.

i will search more. i have requested this feature many times. a year long project, and this is a huge stumbling block to finishing a working model

Actually yes, this can be done using a contact set between both components

I'm out right now mobile, hurricane coming in here in texas. Soon as i get
back in I'll look at this.
It hit me a bit ago, maybe two joints, and it transitions between them
where it goes from straight to arc.

Yes, that is true. However, it is still terrible advice, unless the entirety of your assembly consists exactly of a a plate and a rod as shown int @dieselguy65's design.

I've fixed more users assemblies by deleting contact sets than I care to admit. They are a neat concept with vary little practical application because they are a terrible performance hog and things start behaving terribly weird in connection with joints and motion links. It often makes assemblies practically unusable and all that is easily alleviated by deleting the contact set.

It's a very small part of a huge assembly, with very little motion. That
sample and one of sliding joint is all there is.
It's not a huge deal to not get it working, but it would be nice to show
the assembly in motion, instead of static in the ends of the travel.
That's what i do for now, position it at each end, and capture thr image.

i am trying to replicate what you done here. but i cant get past selecting the two components in the first step. i must be missing something

I selected both components twice, once for the contact set, and the other for an as-built joint

make sure you do both
