Text on an arc

I am facing a problem in typing the text on a arc line which is on flat surface.

I am attaching an image to understand my query. Please have a look on that and tell me how can I text that words on an arc base.

In Fusion 360, one of the only ways of creating text on an arc is to do each letter individually. In your case it will be quite easy as you're using a single circle/arc instead of a spline or conic curve.

In a sketch, create a circle to use as the baseline for the characters.
Draw a vertical line from the center point of the circle to the circumference to use as the start point of one of the letters.
Use a circular pattern to create start points for all of the letters including spaces and the stars using the vertical line as the base.
Place each letter at its respective start point and rotate it to the same angle as its start point line.
Final step is to move each letter so its midpoint is on its start point.

Now we have sheet metal there's a nice workaround that's easy to setup and the text is easy to edit. I stopped the screencast a bit early, I should have added an extrude at the end to make a solid cylinder out of the ring. I noticed there's a seam if the extrude is the same as the sheetmetal flange so in the attached file I made the extrude a bit thicker than the flange\ring. The letters do deform a bit but in my example the letters are 10mm and the disk is 75, with smaller letters it would not be so bad.

I wouldn't call this text on an arc. I'd call it placing and rotating letter on different points. I've been using fusion for 4+ yrs and this was asked for back then.

There is a text on arc plugin available in the app store for $5 which works very well.

Hi folks,

For the same reason that I don't use a screwdriver to drive in a nail, I don't use Fusion here but an application that is made for it, such as Inksacape (or other vector graphic applications).

Additionally they also offer several special editing possibilities.

As mentioned before there is a plugin for this operation, which I were not aware of:

It seems to be very useful, but I would still use a vector software and create a SVG.

I feel curve text is a basic function. I could and do, go to another software to do this but fusion is adding all this other stuff to get people to move over to fusion, why not offer at least the basics. You say there is an addon for $5 that's good but why should I pay more for a basic function? And now Fusion is going offering a 3d slicer as part of the base package. OK then. That fine I'll keep using my other program.

FWIW, we agree that text on a path is a basic function. That is a high priority for us this year. Fusion will never have as many text capabilities as, say, Illustrator or some other 2D design software, but we do hope to increase the basic capabilities in the near future.

I can't believe in 2020 a program like Fusion 360 doesn't have this basic function to add a text on a spline. Incredible!!

Hi,

The feature was released a few weeks ago, but was removed after a few days.

Probably there was still room for improvement.

So I think it will be available soon.
