Hi everyone,

I am new to Fusion360, but I am trying to make a simple shape for making an intake manifold design.

I have succesfully made a first version, in which I had no problems making the loft that I need. However, I changed some dimensions, and now it doesn't want to cut a loft.

I have to make hollow tubing, so I am making a body with loft, and then using an internal offset to cut the inside out. In my first version, this worked on all lofts. But after some changes (and I have tried to find faults, but can't find any). I can't cut the inside loft any more.

First I get the error that the loft wil intersect itself (but I can't see how, because it's that simple) and when I try to press OK, it tells me there is no body to intersect (but the outside loft body is already there..

Can anyone point me to my mistakes?

Thanks,

Serge

<span class="lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline" image-alt="Outside loft on the second runner is no problem.

Loft is a difficult Command to master,

You are on the right track, you do need the outside loft, to make a cutting internal Loft. Four in total.

Your pics don't reveal anything obvious, but the white dot on the inside right profile near the top line, shouldn't be there,

unless it is an arc centre point, makes me think the inside right profile may be open

You might try 4 solid lofts and combine cut the insides away.

Could you File > Export the file and attach the file to a post here, we may be able to track it down...

Might help....

I found a strange shape in one of the corners, fixed it, but didn't make a difference. I think the point you mean is an arc centrepoint.

I've attached the F3D file, I can easily loft the two outside runners, but the two inside runners both have the same issue (as they are mirrored of each other).

Thanks,

Serge

@Anonymous

I looked into you file and noticed that your sketches in general are pretty bad - are those imported?

I am 100% sure that this why some tools fail.

I would redraw this sketches by hand cleanly so that the modeling tools have clean data to work with.

Unfortunatily, those sketches are of my own making. But you are correct, I will redo them and hopefully it will sort itself out!

Thank you!

Serge

EDIT: Cleaned up the sketches and it works, thank you all very much!
