Sadly this doesn't help my situation. I need the full section along the
perpendicular lines.

I have to get this project ready for manufacturing and it is getting close
to the point where I will have to export the project and create drawings in
another software. I've been hoping with each update that the drawing
package gets completed. I haven't checked to see if hole call outs are
associative yet. Modelling and CAM have been great. But I'm still suffering
with the drawing module.

Hi Big_Mak,

Yes, that's expected. The section view can be dragged out perpendicular to the section line segment. In the first image the section line is vertical so you have 2 options, drag out the section view left or right. In the 2nd image you can drag the section out as you've shown (perpendicular to the more vertical segment), or if you move your cursor above/below the horizontal segment of the section line you can drag that section view up/down.

Thanks,
Chris

That's not what I'm referring to.

The one with the section line straight up and down, you will notice that only half of the section view is actually sectioned, but the view with the line slightly askew of vertical has the complete section.

Hi Big_Mak,

OK thanks for clarifying. In the first image you are creating a half section view (horizontal segment is exactly perpendicular to the vertical). In the 2nd image, because the vertical line has been rotated, it is an aligned section. If the horizontal segment was rotated up at exactly the same angle, you'd see a half section view projected perpendicular from the more vertical segment. You can see this if you create the original section in the fist image and then use the Rotate command on the secttion line instead of grip-editing it.

That said, we do currently have some known limitations in this area and have plans to enhance tracking during section line creation and editing. Right now it is not possible to acquire points which are not orthogonal and extend along (or perpendicular) to that geometry or the last section line segment.

Not sure that answers your question, but currently the short answer would be yes this is expected, but we do have plans to enhance this behavior.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Big_Mak,

I still think you can do this, unless I'm mis-understanding exactly the final view you're looking for. Try placing the section like you did in the first image (half section), now select the section line and start the Rotate command. Select Transform, select the endpoint of the section line segment at the center of the part (point 1 in the image), Select Reference, then select the same end point, the current (vertical line) endpoint (point 2), and then the center of the hole you want to create the section through (point 3):

Does that work for you?

Hole and thread callouts are still on the To Do list.

Hi Big_Mak,

OK, thanks for the info. Does this do it for you:

Instead of ending the command after picking a single last section line endpoint (and getting a half section view), select one more point along the same line, in this case point 4.. Stopping the section line after just point 3 creates the half-section, ending the command after selecting point 4 gives you the full section.

Thanks,

With my section lines at 12 oclock and 3 oclock I want to see the full
section that I've cut with the section line, not the half section that it
shows. If the section line that is vertical is just a hair off of vertical
it shows the complete section. But then I can't dimension the port details
correctly.

Hi Big_Mak,

Here's a comparison, using a different design, which shows the section lines which result in half section and full section views. The key to getting the full section view is to add the additional point on the horizontal segment when placing the section line:

Does that work for you?

Thanks,
