Is it possible with sheet metal?

Hi all!

I try around with this nice sheet metal. I try around to do this:

With sheet metal.

But I can't figure out,how I can do a sheet smaller in front and bigger at backsite. Is this possible? With sheet metal?

Hi,

You can't make a flange like this one in the picture, because flanges are like the extrude command but without the tapper angle

If what you're looking for is how to make this shape in the picture, it's a simple loft command

Hello, I was trying to figure this out myself just recently and this can be done, but is a bit tricky.

Start with a sketch rectangle.
Draw a line at the angle of the large radius bend.
Draw a center line.
Create the bend at the large radius bend.
Create the bend at the center line.
Repeat or mirror for the opposite side.
Trim the front and back to be perpendicular to the bottom.
Unfold.

Thanks for sharing this

I check what you shared, which was done by a well-experienced EE, but I think that sheet metal needs tools to be added to it's create menu, take @Klaus.Krawitzki case for example, it's a simple loft, why not have it in the first place instead of searching for workarounds

I already submitted an idea about this, hopefully it will be reviewed in the near future

I never really thought about wither it can be done or not for the flange, but when I make a loft joined to an unfolded flange, it refolds nicely

Did you mean that it can't be done when you asked this question?

I haven't used Sheet Metal enough to know for sure if you can or cannot unfold bodies created in the Model workspace.

@Klaus.Krawitzki If you have not worked out how to do it yet, Have a look at the attached example I did the angle parts 2 different ways, the first one the person incharge of the sheetmetal showed how to do it that way, the 2nd way I cant rember who showed that one. ever way will work.

@etfrench you can do stuff from most of the work spaces with sheet metal in fusion there are exceptions at the moment, loft you have to play with it to get it correct but it does work roughly, it will be added in as with a lot of other stuff, what sort of works they are not saying anything about as it is a bug or not polished enough yet for them to say you can do this.

@SaeedHamza Can you post an example doing what the op wants with a loft.

No you can't, even if you created a body and then used the combine tool to join it with the unfolded flange, the flange won't refold again

But you can create a flat pattern, which is usually the purpose of a sheet metal design.

If you mean creating a flange using a loft, it can't be done, because the only thing available for creating flanges at the moment is like an extrusion, and anything created using other environments doesn't count as a flange

I'm talking about creating the flange itself. The only way to do it is to extrude a sketch with the thickness decided by the rule
