OSX High Sierra Tomorrow

Hey guys!

So High Sierra is coming tomorrow. Doesn't seem like a big update, but I'd like to check that Fusion is running on it. Is it safe to update?

That is a great question.

We are currently testing on it, and results are good, so far. We haven't yet found anything specific to the 10.13 beta, which is a good sign.

However, there is no guarantee that the build we are testing is the actual release build. So I cannot guarantee anything here.

Any plans for the Mac version to take advantage of Metal 2? I took your class at AU-15, but I'm pretty sure you were using a PC. So, you might not care. : )

Well.... I am considered a "mac guy" because I do a lot of testing on it, but I'm not a traditional mac guy. I don't care too much about bleeding edge technology that mac offers. Just like how it all works. 🙂

That being said, this looks pretty cool and may be key to unlocking more GPU performance in mac. Thanks for the heads up.

I heard back from the graphics team. It's on the road map, but they have a couple of major priorities right now in other areas. Hopefully some time early next year. I know that seems a long way out, but let's let them do their magic for now. Thanks for raising it up!

@Phil.E That's cool! There are definitely some UI bugs I would like to see wiped out on the Mac before then! Like, toggling the Units and anything in the tree without clicking on the Top Bar?? Not that I want to lead a revolt : )

It's just one of those constant bugs that is crazy annoying for CAM users. I change my "units" once every time I import a model...No big deal. But I need to activate "Setups" in CAM for every one I create or edit. That's like, I'm clicking that top bar 60 times a day!

I check Fusion after every update, just to see if it's fixed. 2 updates ago I checked it.... "Units" is now in a Document Setting Folder! They just added another Click! haha

I used to have crazy Crashes on the MacBook Air, But since I updated to the Pro, it runs pretty solid all day. It's awesome to have this level of CAD/CAM on a Mac. So, great work!
