Hey,

in the following project I can´t get the Pin and slot Joint to work.

I have a part called "Holder" thats free to rotate in a bearing. Revolute Joint works fine. Rigidly attached to this Bladeholder is a "Pin".

The "Pin" engages in a slot in a part called "Pusher" (Pusher actually consists of two components, the upper and the lower half).

The Pusher is rigidly fixed to a Pushrod. The "Pusher" and "Pushrod" are also fixed against rotating by means not shown in my pictures, so the slot will always stay perpendicular to the "Pin"

When the "Pushrod" along with the "Pusher are moved, the Bladeholder should rotate accordingly.

For the life of me though, I can´t get Pin Slot Joint to work.

I choose the curved face of the pin and the edge of the slot, I can then choose any combination of axis of rotation and Slide directions, the animation is always wrong. It turns the pin 90 degrees for exampe which is not possible because its orientation is already constrained by all the joints in the Bladeholder.

I´ve been stuck on this for hours now, please help me.

Below are to pictures showing the situation, the housing is invisible in picture 1.

Thanks

Marc

Kevin

First of all, sorry for the wrong subject name. When I typed in my subject it showed me recommendations and I must have accidentaly clicked on one of them. Now I cant change the name anymore.

I´ve done a simple mockup of the type of joint I need to create. In this case the animation is working like its supposed to at least but once I click ok all the Joints turn red, I get a warning and nothing can be moved.

See below in the Screencast.

How do I get this Joint to work?

Thanks

HI there

If you could share your file I would happily take a look at this for you. It is hard to tell from the video alone.

When create this joint Fusion 360 prompts you to pick 2 joint origins, one on each component you want to join.

You can only place these joint origins at specific snap points on the geometry.

When Fusion then creates the joint it tries to alining these snap points in one plane. IN your design that component is already joined with a revolute joint to another component,

If you change that joint from a revolute to a cylindrical join providing it with an additional degree of freedom, then that pin-slider joint should work

Thanks a lot!

Changing it a cylindrical in the mockup worked. From there I figured it out myself.

I had to manually create new Joint origins on both the Pin and Pusher parts. Those had to be offset that they would be in one plane when assembled and for the pusher part that it would be in the middle of the slot.

Quite a hassle if you ask me and non parametric. If I´m going to change any dimension i´ll have to change those offsets or nothing will work anymore.

Joints are one thing Fusion hasnt got it right. In Solidworks I´d just choose the pin, hit tangent to, and click the face. Done.

Another question. I noticed that in some designs I´m able to just grab a part und move it according to its Joints. In this design though I always have to click on the Joint and drag the arrows to move anything. Whats the matter with this?

In the screencast you´ll see the working joints and my other problem.

Thanks
