FYI: this statement stands out:

"I do have to select Component as a selection priority because of it also changing seemingly randomly,"

Component Priority when ON, merely edits the Selection filter such that only Component is selectable.

Are you seeing the results of Component Priority as expected, or are you saying Component Priority is ON when it should not be, such as during sketching?

Among many many bugs i have found this one the most frustrating, just today.

The selection filter randomly deselects whatever filters it likes, and i end up not being able to click on features in my sketch, or bodies or joints or whatever re-imagined term the developers have used to re-invent themselves.

Maybe it should have been called Fusion 359, because it doesn't come full circle as per functional software.

Hi @Anonymous,

Can you explain the problem you are having in more detail? Under what circumstances do you see this deselecting of selection filters? Can you provide a screencast?

Fusion will change the selection filter if you are in a command. So, for instance, if you start the Extrude command, the filter is set to Body Faces, Sketch Profiles, and Text Selection, because those are the only valid selection types for extruding. But, that should not be "random" in any way, it should be quite predictable.

It changes randomly when i go in and out of commands, just rotate my model or whatever, and the changes are really irrelevant as to the function im using, also the selection method changes by itself, from square to pen o whatever.

jesus christ now it wont respond at all to my sketches, just dims the sketch after i press E and nothing is selectable even if I make it visible. Yes the sketch is complete. Rebooting the software three to twelve times during a day is getting tiring.

Well, maybe Fusion runs stable for you when you make your little lamp thingies but it doesn't handle 500+ assemblies, or components, that well.

Thousands of hours in Fusion sounds about right, the amount of time consumed from crashes, waiting for up/downloads is unlike any kind of software i've ever used, or any of my colleagues for that matter.

Maybe you change your disrespectful tone, because it would appear to me that you and perhaps your colleagues need help ?

I have Fusion 360 crash on me too, but not nearly with the frequency you describe, thus I/we need more information to provide that help.

I have almost 30 years experience with computer graphics, CAD and 3D modeling. I possibly have a few tricks up my sleeve that you and your colleagues don't.

If Fusion 360does not perform well for you, then I suggest you use another product.

Some of these lamp thingies are assemblies with 400+ components, BTW that have not crashed on me whatsoever 🙂

I also work on a number commercial products with Fusion 360. So before you come to any rash conclusions as to what my experience level with Fusion 360 might be, maybe educate yourself a little.

Chances are you'll also have fewer crashes with Fusion 360!

Sorry, I did not see the updates to this thread yesterday. Apologize for the slow response.

Sorry to hear that you are frustrated, but @TrippyLighting is correct - without some more information about the problems you are seeing, it's difficult to help. There could certainly be a bug here, but I am not aware of any actions that will "randomly" change selection filters. If you can provide us with some more details (screencast and model are the best), we can look into it.

Regarding performance, you are correct in that Fusion is not as fast on large assemblies as Inventor. It wasn't intended to be used on huge models. Trippy is right, though - there are techniques that can help manage this, if you are willing to try them.
