I copy and pasted that XML file directly into my thread directory (MacOS 10.12.6) and it shows up in the thread dialog.

I think you can rule out any problem with formatting of the XML file.

If I had to guess, it could be that the directory (which is super long) is incorrect.

Macintosh HD> Users> Username > Library > Application Support > Autodesk > Webdeploy > production > Version specific ID > Libraries > Applications > Fusion > Fusion > Server > Fusion > Configuration >ThreadData

Could it be that you've select the wrong Version specific ID folder?

I also note that after you place the XML file in this directory, it may be a good idea to restart Fusion 360.

I hope that helps!

I'm trying to create a custom thread and I followed this guide and then looked over this post. However, my custom thread won't show in the Fusion Menu. I've attached my custom thread XML file here. Any help would be appreciated!

EDIT: Tried editing an existing file and that did not work either. I forgot to mention that I'm using Fusion 360 on macOS High Sierra.

Yeah that’s the path on my Mac as well. There is only one version specific ID so can’t go wrong in that. My Mac is running 10.13 (macOS High Sierra). Maybe this doesn’t work on the latest version of macOS?

Also in the XML there is a sorting ID. What is that? Does it have to be unique from the other thread data XMLs?

That is a good question about Sort Order.

From the thread.xls file for Autodesk Inventor.

This cell contains the sort order number, which is used to determine the thread type list order in the dialog boxes. The number does not have to be sequential. A lower number places the thread type above the types with higher sort order numbers.

I'm not sure if it is the same in Fusion or not, but I can ask around and get back to you.

Some co-worker's of mine just ran a test with High Sierra using your XML file and it seemed to work for them. I don't think there is any issue related to the specific OS.

Is there anything else that could be unique to your environment? Do you have a multiple custom thread.xml's or is the only one?

Thanks,

I also made a small video showing how this is setup on my Mac. There is nothing special or specific about my environment. It is just a regular MacBook Pro.
