Hi Niteen,

You are right, we currently can't create a point to edge dimension. This is definitely on our roadmap and working its way up the list. In the meantime you're going to have to use Rotate to get the dimension you're looking for. You can either:

1. Place the base view, then rotate the view itself so that edge is horizontal or vertical (you can use the Reference option in the Rotate dialog to do this, after selecting the Transform/rotation point, pick one endpoint then the other then track straight up). Now you can use a regular horizontal or vertical dim. Or

2. Place the center mark to that hole, rotate it the same angle as that edge (so it's now parallel) then use the dimension tool and select the segment of the centermark that is parallel with the edge, then the edge. This will give you that offset distance.

Sorry for the inconvenience this is causing. We are also working on exposing sketch geometry (from the design) in the drawing, so once this is implemented you will be able to utilize the sketch geometry as a kind of construction geometry in the drawing to get this distance.

Thanks,

I can usually fin a way to measure those. Once and a while I need to make a construction line and measure it.If you post your export I am sure we can show you solutions.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting.

If there's some shape, it will create the dimension. here is how to do it. http://autode.sk/2zYzgWW

Thanks for the help

But no ..
F360 works well for dimension from points.

thanks for the Clarity .

Though the solution you provided is possible, ....... It is not practical , as the drawing always demand many more dimensions from many lines at different angles. .

WE WAIT TILL F360 takes care of this basic NEED .
( I hope that F360 team agree that this is a very basic need for the dimensioning in mechanical CAD)

Thanks in advance
