Hi

I am started learning Fusion360 and struggling to change the dimensions of a Mcmaster gear file.

There is no time line to go back to the start of the file to change the diameter of the gear etc. I downloaded a McMaster file to change it to the gear that I have ( See attached file )

Is there anyone that help me. I have looked at a number videos on youtube with no success.

Thanks for awesome software

Thanks

Vaugan

You can scale the body inside the component.

Scale is under the Modify Commands Pull down

You can use uniform or non-uniform scaling

You could also create a sketch on a plane that intersected the gear, project the intersected body, offset the projection, and then Pull out your own custom gear.

Keep in mind, I think both of these methods will tweak the original design parameters of the gear, might not be an issue for your project though.

It would be better to just create the gear using the Add-in Spur Gear script. Modifying the McMaster gear will not give you a good gear form. If you know the module (or diametrical pitch) of your gear, it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to create the Fusion 360 model. The pitch of the gear can be determined by a few simple measurements.

If you don't know the dimensions anymore, is there still a way to create a new McMaster gear with similar dimensions?

Hi,

that depends on what you have as a base.
Maybe a file?

günther
