newbie help - creating a ridge around a shape and SVG issues

Hi,

I am very new to Fusion 360, doing lots of online tutorials, YouTubes etc. I plan to design furniture.

I'm getting comfortable with the basics, but a slightly more advanced design idea has me totally stumped. In a nutshell, I want to design a table top in the profile/outline of a particular lake, but I want the outline of the lake to be, say, 0.15" higher than the table top so that there's a ridge along the profile. I also want that 0.15" rise to be rounded and graceful rather than just pocketing it out and leaving a 90 degree angle (if that we the design, I would have it done in VCarve Pro already).

I already vectorized the outline of the lake and created an SVG file. I can insert the SVG into Fusion 360, although manipulating it in any meaningful way seems to crash the program.

1. Is there any best practice for manipulating SVGs in Fusion 360? I successfully inserted it, sized it and placed in the preview mode, and then even extruded the shape. But anything else I try hangs the program.

2. Putting aside the SVG complexities, how do I make the rounded ridge that I described just on a simple circle? Do I need to draw a circle, create an offset of the circle, and then extrude both to different heights and somehow taper the space between the two? (FYI, Fusion won't offset my SVG without hanging).

Your on the right track, if it won't offset try scaling it,

extrude the border, and fillet the top two edges.
