My clients are not using or buying the software. As an independent
consultant, I may have multiple clients. I cannot ask them to purchase the
software-I'm expected to provide my own tools.

Some of my clients are very small. Asking them to spend $150 is a lot, compared to a small overall project budget.

I’m looking for a solution I can manage in my own environment, with my own tools.

Seems my options are:

One Fusion account, for myself, with separate Fusion 'projects' for different designs (whether for the same or different clients).

Create a new fusion account for each client.

hello

is it advisable to create separate Fusion360 accounts for separate clients?

concerns both technical, usability, and legal issues.

technical: perhaps i want different config prefs for different clients.

usability: seems like it would be easier to work if i don't have to sign in/out constantly.

legal: an aggressive client might claim some ownership or conflict issues if on same account.

thx!

My suggestion would be that your clients get a FusionTeam (hub) account.

While that is not free ($120 annually) it will keep their designs on their hub and they would be managing user accounts etc.

I am not an Autodesk Employee trying to sell you "something". As an Autodesk Expert Elite I am a customer just like you, alas likely a bit more experienced.

I work independently and based on my current experience with clients it is much easier to work on a hub owned by the client. When a project is complete they have all their information on their own hub and can invite people and uninvited people, restrict and grant user permissions. Granted I work on fairly involved projects.

If your clients don't need the design files and are happy with whatever you are providing you can share projects on your own personal hub, that comes with your own Fusion 360 subscription.

Or you can purchase your own subscription to a Fusion Team hub if you need more functionality. For example on your private hub it is not even possible to move a folder from one location to another and while you can invite people to a project they have full rights and there is no granularity in user permissions.

I did not think you're trying to sell me something. Sure, I understand the
benefits of the client owning the account. As I already mentioned, that's
not a realistic option in some cases, especially smaller clients.

Of course the clients need the design files-are you saying I cannot provide
clients with design files if they do not own their own Team account?

"on your private hub it is not even possible to move a folder from one
location to another"

Plz define "location".

"while you can invite people to a project they have full rights"

Full rights to just that project, correct? But you would have keep them invited to the project indefinitely. With an increasing number of projects your list in the data panel right get too long to be manageable.

"on your private hub it is not even possible to move a folder from one
location to another"

Plz define "location".

Let's say to have a project with three folders "A" , "B" and "B1" which is a subfolder in "B" containing design files . You want to move Folder "B1" Into folder "A". In your private hub you'll have to create a new folder in "A" and move all the design files from "B1" over individually and then delete "B1" from "B" and rename the new sub folder in "A".
You cannot just only move the folder with all the design files from one folder into another folder. That can only be done with a FusionTeam hub.
No, I am not kidding 😉

"while you can invite people to a project they have full rights"

Full rights to just that project, correct?
