Hello Fusion 360 forum!

I'm confused about how to read the 2d drawing that I've attached. I want

to make a Fusion 360 model in order to do a 3d print.

The drawing shows 3 stair steps, of what is called an "Input Board" or "Keyboard"(minus the actual keys-holes are for the key shafts).

My questions are about the cutaway view labeled "Section A-A". Is that section saying that

the stair stepping is only "3mm" thick (I got that dimension from "Detail D") and that there are

two solid vertical panels, on each end of the entire keyboard, or is the entire keyboard solid?

See attachment for the Keyboard drawing:

Thanks,

Gary

Your inclination was correct.

This is essentially hollow with two end plates. When a section view is used like that, the hatching (shading) is what lets you know is solid vs void space. Any area that is not shaded is behind the cut line (in the view).

The view on the bottom of the page confirms that this is hollow because we can see the stair steps and the holes around the bottom. I would consider this view to be a "back" view, but it is also upside down which makes this a little hard to wrap your head around.

The stair step section is only 3 mm thick. This shape is open at the back and at the bottom. I didn't see anything that defined the thickness of the vertical end parts, but it's probably 3 also.

Great!

Thanks for your help and your quick response.

I'm attempting to do a 3d print of the keyboard. I'm thinking about making it twice as thick to make it more rigid.

It was originally made out of metal. I don't thick the added thickness will interfere with the other surrounding parts.

Thanks!

Gary

I posted a response but I'll re-iterate it again, here.

Thanks for your quick response and your help in clarifying the 2d drawing.

I'm going to try and make the keyboard more rigid by increasing it's thickness to 6mm instead of 3mm because I'm 3d printing it.

It was originally made out of metal.

Thanks!

Gary
