Flange tool won't select desired edge

I'd like to connect the top and bottom flange to the front flange but I can't select the bottom edge of either like I did with the piece that is detatched. Please help

The attached model contains a way of modeling the finished form and then converting that into a sheet metal body.

However, in order to generate a flat pattern, each of the two halves has to be a separate component.

So after the 3D sketch, you need to create two (empty) components, one for the top and one for the bottom half.

Then activate each component before doing the sheet metal stuff.

1) Create a flange from this edge.

2) Create a sketch on this flange using Project function in a sketch and extrude

3) Cut the unnecessary material with extrude.

4) Mirror what you did. To do that - first construct midplane.

Hi Folks,

Here is another solution using a different modeling technique. Basically, you may focus on creating the non-sheet metal body. Round the sharp edges with desirable radius. Then create a zero-offset surface (leave an opening). Lastly, thicken surface logically so that the part can be unfolded.
