so i just realised that the sketch is there, it just doesn't highlight in the browser when selecting it or using show in browser. but strangely enough the curves are invisible:

I can select the curves and delete them but since i have no visual feedback i can't be sure theyre all gone.

@jeff_strater can i send you this file privately i don't want to share it publicly since it's a production file.

hi everyone, i'm bangin my head against the wall trying to figure this out. There are some sketch curves / profiles in my model which don't show in the browser and although i can select and move them i cannot delete them. Im in direct modeling so i can eliminate history from the troubleshooting equation. i think this profile comes from some filets which i deleted (the shape corresponds to the area inside the old filets) but it doesn't seem to be in the geometry but on an invisible 3d sketch plane. When i select the objects the selection status says 'sketch curve' if i select a partial and 'Profile' when i click on the orange area to select.

Heres a screencast of me trying to figure it out ... any ideas what might be going on here. BTW you'll see a sketch with visibility turned of but that's not the issue, it's just a logo which i didn't want to show here.

it's not really a show stopper to have this weird object around (just very annoying for the selection process) but i'd sure like to understand what is going on

just to be sure it's not in the geometry i unstitched the body and moved everything around but it seems it's a sketch object, only that it does not show up in the browser. Also tried detecting features but can't see anything amiss there neither.

Yes, this seems strange. I wonder if there is another sketch somewhere that is involved. You can only delete geometry from the active sketch, which might explain why you cannot delete this. Or, there may be something else going on, a bug in Fusion. If you can share your design, we can take a look at it.

Thanks,

Thanks, @rumpelstielz. The best way is probably to share a public link with me via private message on this forum. Right click on the item in the data panel, choose "share public link", and make sure that "allow item to be downloaded" is checked:

and copy/paste the link into a private message to me on this forum. We will keep the data completely confidential

Sorry for the slow response - I was traveling today. Thanks for sending me the design. The short answer is that those are sketch lines created from sketching on the face of the body in your model. Fusion does not display those lines and arcs, which can be confusing, I admit. You can delete them, if you are editing the sketch that contains them. I notice your design is a direct modeling design. Is that intentional? It's fine if that is your intention. But, that is why the geometry does not line up with the body exactly.

I recorded a screencast, which I will send to you via PM, since the design is not public, and you may have concerns about a video which shows it. The screencast will explain in more detail.

Hey @jeff_strater, thx so much for taking the time to explain this, i understand now: every time you select a face as a sketchplane an 'invisible' sketch of the face is projected for reference.

Concerning direct modeling, yes this is intentional, this particular design is final and just going into production and i remove the design history so it's less confusing when i import it into a new file which i use for CAM. i keep the model with design history in case i want to adjust anything.

i also understand now why the invisible projected curves are smaller than the model. first i had a small filet on the upper rim and probably clicked the face inside the filets to create a sketch. Later on i removed the filet.

many thx for clearing this up 🙂

PS: feel free to insert your screencast here, i think it helps to understand the issue and might be usefull to other users at some point.
