Surface Patch Problem

I searched for this particular case, but didn´t find it, maybe because of my bad englisch and i didn´t know what to search for.

I have small problem, maybe you have an idea??

You have a couple of options. Create the patch like in the video then use the inner sections of the tube to trim a hole. Or create plane on at the end of the tube, project the edges from the inner and outer tubes then create the patch from the sketch profile.

I think the visual problem is just because you have a small feature on a fairly large body so not getting a good mesh. You can set the meshing manually if you right click the body in the browser and select Display Detail Control and select Fixed High.

Hey Günther, here is the file. Maybe a short screencast would be good, i have problems to translate/understand and follow the instructions of Marc... i don´t know how to trim with the inner hole as i don´t how how to select e hole to trim...

The other one, i have some problems to do, i understand, what the way is you mentioned, but i don´t know the single steps/Clicks.. But still thanks a lot!

Hi,

recreate the part!
1. project the path into a sketch
2. create a sketch on a plane on the path
3. project the pipe profile into this sketch
4. sweep the pipe profile along the path
5. project the holes onto the new pipe
6. extrude the drill profiles
I show you how to do this in the screencast.

Create the patch like in your video then use trim to cut the hole.

When prompted the select the cutting tool click the inner part of the tube.

Then clicking the centre part of the patch should create the hole. Note this will only work if the inner and outer tube sections are accurate and the ends are planer.

Instead of sweep, I have used the more simple Pipe tool here.

Follow the screencast:

1. activate design history

2. create sketch on xz and project the pipe contour into

3. create a pipe (square = 30mm)

4. apply fillets

5. shell > walls = 1,5mm
