If so, how? And if not, WHY NOT!!!???

Hi cbales,

After placing a dimension you can edit it by double-clicking it. In the Dimension dialog that appears you can apply a Tolerance (it looks like you want Limit). While the dimension is being edited you can click within the dimension text and add text or symbols (from the dialog), and you can hit Shift+Enter to add another line of text (Enter will just end the command). That should accomplish what you're trying to do, if not please let me know.

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,

Thanks for the tip. The SHIFT+ENTER was the solution I was looking for for adding multi-line notes to dimensions. Interesting that I have not read or heard about that before.

Regarding adding limit dimensions (stacked) to dimensions in the multi-line notes, I found that the ^ symbol placed between text will stack it in the same way as AutoCAD. However the text size is only 70% of the original. Two steps forward, one step back.

Chuck

Everbody loves the modeling but drawings and dimensions with tolerances...who needs that?

I sent a big list of all of the ways that Fusion violates the Y14 drawing standards, from sections to dimensions and tolerances, to someone purportedly in charge of Fusion drawings a couple months ago. Nothing yet.

Hi Chuck and Peter,

Thanks for posting. The features you are mentioning here, Feature Recognition (for hole and thread notes) and Standards support are items we are aware of. Short answer is, it all comes down to new feature prioritization and resources.

Using Standards as an example, there is work to do to support Y14. At the same time, other users are requesting DIN, and others JIS. This then turns into a much larger project - updating/adding templates, dimension styles, adding support for whatever special symbols are required, etc. It's a big project.

We're not ignoring any of these requests, we have the Y14 request logged in our system (reference FDWG-7780), it's a matter of them working their way up the list and us having the resources to get them done correctly.

Thanks,
Chris
