Changing the thickness across the part.

I have a V-shaped plastic part that I'm working on. One end (near the clip) is the thickest at ~9mm, about 50mm or so from that end, it will begin tapering off it's thickness arriving at the other tip of the "V" shape, decreasing to ~5mm thick. I created a pretty complex sketch to get to the point where I could extrude it to the thickest part, but I keep hitting a wall trying to get that thickness to change over the surface. If this was a straight part like a ski or something, I feel like I could do a cross section "cut", to apply that taper, but it's an irregular path. I expect creating a complicated series of cuts (boolean type subtractions) will make a mess of things. But I appreciate any suggestions.

Will the decrease in thickness be symmetrical on both sides or will it be on only one side?

Do you have a picture of something similar that already exists from the real world?

Before doing anything else in the design, you should fully constrain and dimension your sketch.
