topic Constraining an imported (dxf) curve in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

I have a design I have imported from a dxf file. The files contains a curved edge which looks like it is made of many small segments. I would like to know how to constrain this edge - turning it from blue to black.

I have a corner of the sketch constrained to the origin, and I can constrain or dimension the other edges - but the curved edge remains blue despite my attempts. Not sure if a constrain is needed or if there is some modifications I need to do to the edge first.

Can anyone advise please?

I removed all the many segments in your sketch using the method outlined in this Blog Article and Video. From there I added dimensions and sketch constraints to the remainder of the sketch except the curved edge. I add a Fix sketch constrain to it as I do not have a valid method of constraining it otherwise. Model is attached.

Thanks John

I was able to follow your video and make the short path for the curved area and that seemed to work. I thought just the short path was needed as the rest of the drawing is lines. Exiting the sketch and turning off the Mesh Section (under the sketch) leaves just the curved part of the sketch.

Going back in - I thought maybe I still have to do the long path - so I tried that and didn't get the results I wanted. So I am still missing something (see pic).

What am i doing wrong?

From what your screen capture shows, you are using only the Closed Spline in the Fit Curves to Mesh Section command. You need to select the correct tool from the list to use on each section. In your case, the Spline option is used on the curved section and the rest you should use the line tool from point to point.
