Hi, I'm new to fusion360 and I am currently practicing modelling a knife. But, I can seem to loft between two different shapes using the rail. It either comes up with 'The Selected Rail does not touch all profile' or 'All profiles are point profiles. A loft needs at least one non-point profile.'

Help me please.

This is a post I did a while back on the basics of using rail curves with Loft: introduction-to-loft-using-rail-curves-in-fusion

There may be something in there that can help you. The key is to use Project -> Intersect when creating the rails, to assure intersection

Hi. Jeff, thanks for the quick reply. I did look through your tutorial before posting here.

I constructed the guide rails (shape of the knife) before creating the plane for it to loft.

The error pop-up as ... 'One or more rails intersects a profile more than once.' I've attached a screenshot of the intersection points...

I have tried it many times, starting a fresh but to no avail.

When you connect all the rails to the profiles, the error will disappear,

The straight rail between sketch 3 and 13, works ok, but there is this error at the sketch 3 to rail position.

Might help...

Thanks for pointing that out!

I'm not sure how to fix it. Does anyone know the best way to create an object like that? Lofting with a curve?

Easy to fix the problem, but you will need to edit the profile/s you want.

You projected Sketch 2, into sketch 3, but the curve in Sketch 1, did not align, not physically possible, without more work.

To fix it, I drew a new line from the projected point on the rail, to shorten the profile back to the curve.

The same sketch 1 curve in sketch 13, did not connect either, there were multiple lines in the sketch, so deleted those 3 lines and replaced it with one off the projected point.

So with the editing done, The loft is ugly with just the geometry you started with, and does not even comply to the rails, does it's best. Fisrt pic.

I had come up with a small fillet at the sharp point, Loft still didn't like it,

Try the extrude with smaller top lofted fillet, mirrored, and combined as an alternate technique. Pic 2.

File attached.

I used snapping and clicked directly on the profiles when drawing a "guide rail" line between the two profiles and still get the "selected rail does not touch all of the profiles" WTF!!!!!
