Unable to project construction lines

When I toggle on the construction line setting in the sketch palette and then project onto a sketch the projected lines are not construction lines unless I change them after the project action. Is this the way it is or is it supposed to be projecting lines as construction lines?

@Brady_Fulton. You are correct - this is a bug. A fix is in the works, but not finished yet. Apologize for the inconvenience.

Just a heads up that this bug seems to have just reappeared in the last couple of weeks on MacOS 2.0.14106 and it is quite annoying

@wersy, I see no issues either but I am using a Windows 10 based operating system, the poster specifically mentioned the issue on MAC. What are you using?

I am not sure what you Screen Capture is trying to show, there are no Construction lines in the sketch to project. The circle appears to be a regular sketch line.

Perhaps you do not understand how the Project command works. The video below will demonstrate both a projection of a regular sketch line and a construction line.

Hi John, sorry that my image was not totally clear. The original circle existed in a sketch. The secondary sketch was onto a parallel plane. What I was showing is that when I call up the project command in the second sketch I can select and project the circle (you can see in my image that it is selected successfully) but the option to project as construction line is grayed out. This is true in any imaginable case I have tried (bodies, components, sketches, etc). I have logged a few hundred hours in fusion and have projected innumerable lines so I'm fairly confident this is a new bug, not improper use.

Also, I checked with a colleague on Mac and he has the same issue

Thanks for the clarification and I NOW understand what you are seeing. I would suggest a slight workflow change and see if it helps get by this issue, I presume this is only showing up on the MAC since I do not see any issues on a Windows platform. Select the Construction Line icon in the Sketch palette BEFORE starting the Project command. Maybe this will get you where you want to be.

@jeff_strater, you have access to a MAC I believe, what do you see?

I have tried that as well unfortunately and nothing works. I've also tried using the hotkey and no dice.

Okay, I cannot do anything about this but I did flag @jeff_strater to take a look. He is with Autodesk and can log bugs, I cannot since I am just a user like yourself.

Nope, you projected a construction line, you got a solid line, and showed us there is 2 profiles in the second sketch. I think it has always been the case, but the thread posters want a projected construction line result, no?

Yes, he wanted to get a projected construction line. His first description and screen capture do not portray what he really wanted. This problem seems to be restricted to MAC users only.

True, but if you look at his menu construction line appears to be a valid option, whereas for me it is greyed out

You lost me.

Original sketch in the video, has one profile, because the centre line added is construction.

Second sketch has both articles projected, and the centre line is solid, so 2 profiles. Edit that sketch to change the centre line to construction in the second sketch to return to 1 profile.

So how does - for me it is greyed out - figure?

Are you saying you can’t change the projected centre line to construction after it gets into sketch 2?

You have to select the line for the option to change it.
