I might have worded it a bit wonky haha. I don't have the base line's dimension and the arc needs to define the overall length. But your video showed me enough that I can get it done!

Thanks for the help!

Arc: Start-End-Radius Feature Missing?

Hello Everyone!

I am in an engineering graphics class and they are using Solidworks 2017. I have been using Fusion 360 on my own for a bit and I'd like to not have to use SW17 as it seems to not be keeping up with the times, with it's archaic UI that is not user friendly in the slightest, and its outrageous up front cost and "maintenance" fees. Fusion for me thus far has presented its self as a much more modern application that just flows well. Although I am a noobie I just have the feeling that ADF360 will eventually eat all of SW's lunch, and I don't want to be learning to use a soon to be obsolete application. Rant over. The question.

I am trying to make a flashlight lamp reflector housing (image link below) and it gives two line dimensions of 2" and 0.4" and an arc radius dimension of 4" with the distance between the two lines constrained to the radius of the arc.

My problem is I don't see the option for Start-End-Radius which I think is the correct tool. In solidworks the distance remains undefined untill you complete the arc. I cant start the arc with out already having the lines already there.

https://imgur.com/a/oOOCF

Thanks for the help!

Hey @Anonymous,

It makes me happy that you've had such a strong first impression of Fusion! I hope we're able to keep that impression up as you dig deeper and deeper into our functionalities.

In terms of the question you raised, I just went ahead and recorded a quick screencast so you could follow my workflow to create the shape. Let me know if this solves the problem for you.

Thanks!

I read the question differently... I understood that you want the arc radius constrained to the center line length...

Thank you for your time!

The two video posts on this thread gave me enough info to get the job done! I didn't have the base line length and it needed to be defined by the arc radius of 4" to give the overall length of the lens.

You guys are great!
