I recognize all that - I've created a ton of templates previously, and am just seeing an error now with no explanation. This is looking pretty buggy to me, and I'm wondering if it might have to do with path naming.

The root issue is that, if I were altering attribute names in an Autocad titleblock, and wanted to create a new template, at some point, I'd have to Insert a Titleblock. I was experimenting with attribute names for another user's question, using a titleblock I've used successfully before. The difference THIS time (maybe) is that I was saving the *.dwg in my Inventor/Vault directory (which is named $WorkingFolder). Insert fails. If I take the same file and move it somewhere else, inserts no problem.

Screencast attached.

Hi Todd,

Thanks for the follow up information. It looks like the $ in the path may be the problem, I can also reproduce the issue by adding a $ to the file name of a dwg saved locally on my desktop. There are some invalid characters that we reject, there may need to be some better messaging here about what is causing the problem. Thanks for reporting this, I will do some more checking on this.

Thanks,
Chris
