New API: Put the sketch constraints back into the sketch pallet.

It's irritating having to go to the drop down nearly every time I use a constraint. The sketch pallet is still there, so there's not much point putting it in the ribbon. If anything this seems like a backwards step in UX.

I like the new interface - looking/functioning more and more like Inventor every year.

But can the developers "walk across the hall" and ask their Autodesk Inventor teammates how to put all of the constraints on one panel?

Why they are over their - have them ask about creating Construction Planes too.

You can add the constraints to the shortcuts toolbar now so they will popup at the mouse if you press S.

The S menu is fine unless you use a space mouse. With a space mouse your left hand is not on the keyboard, so hot keys are not convenient.

I very much like the compactness of the S menu though. In fact if I could replace the silly pie menu with the S menu I would be SO happy! Or maybe even different S menus based on context? Heaven!

Don't have a space mouse but can't you customise a key to bring up the S menu?

Also the shortcut list does show on the right click menu but it does mean moving the mouse quite a distance.

Only if you have one with extra buttons. Some don't have any buttons at all and mine only has a few. Now that I look, it appears I do have one extra assignable button but the keys it can be assigned to are limited, and S isn't one of them (Way to go 3DConnexion ).

Hey, I never actually noticed that. It's all the way at the bottom though, and a fly-out menu, so no thanks.

Thanks for the discussion here everyone, really helpful to read through.

If I may dig into the OP's original request a bit deeper: can you share with me why you want the constraints icons back in the sketch palette? Is it because you are familiar with how to access constraints? Because you want easier access and less mouse travel? Also, as a tip, with the preview UI, you can now pin your most used constraints to the toolbar so they are visible and accessible in the toolbar. I'm totally open to share rationale on why we moved the constraints to the toolbar but would first better understand your pain points.

Hey Keqing,

It just seems to be a move that has made it slower to reach constraints. The sketch pallet is still there, so I feel like it's just lost a bit of its value. The extra click to reach off-ribbon constraints is a bit tedious - having pinned them now, I'm less bothered by this. Perhaps they should all be pinned by default, it's less irritating seeing as before you could pick them out by muscle memory on the pallet.

Also bare in mind I come from a teaching background, and before it was so easy for students to get used to using constraints - because they were right there on the pallet. And telling a room of 70 students, 4 times to pin stuff will be a bit of a bore.

Alternatively, can you make it an option to move ribbon items to the sketch pallet? That would suit all parties.

The shortcut menu is useful, but again, I prefer the permanent location at a single click.
