What is the difference between Move/Copy-Create Copy and Copy-Paste?

I need to make a copy of a model to use as the stock for modifications to be machined on a modified version of that model. The original model has already been machined.

We are always told "Don't" when it comes to Move/Copy, with no real explanation other than "If you're asking you don't know how to do it right." but I am curious for future/other instances. Is there a difference between the two methods to attaining a copy of a body and leave it where it is or move it someplace else?

To answer your specific question: Move with Create Copy should be functionally equivalent with Copy/Paste.

Move is a curious command. Most of the time when you hear "don't use Move", it is largely in reference to moving Bodies. There are times where a Body Move makes sense, but there are not that many of them. IMO, Move for Components is OK. It's no different than dragging a component, or even exercising a Joint. It is just creating a temporary location for the Component. And, Move with the Copy option really is a different beast. It is just another way to do a Copy/Paste.
