More to the point, why is there a menu under Stop Sketch at all when Stop/Finish Sketch is the only command?

My guess: to allow assignment of a keyboard shortcut. But Finish Sketch also appears under the Create menu, so Stop Sketch doesn't really need the submenu at all.

And while we're at it, a sketch is never "finished" - you can always go back and edit it. And you can't "stop" a sketch; the sketch isn't doing anything. What's to stop? This should really be Stop Sketching, Leave Sketch, or something like that.

Hello friends,

Can anybody tell me difference between Stop Sketch and Finish Sketch (as it appears in the new 07/26 update) ?

I coudn't find any difference.

If both operations are the same (as they seem to be), why different terminologies ?

Cheers,

Luiz

They are the same.

Different words probably because one person writes the codes for the context menu and another person writes the code for the menu bar up top. These two people probably were in the same office meeting once, but otherwise don't speak to each other.

That would be too obvious. We at Autodesk want to make it confusing so people are driven here to the forum to ask questions. We really make most of our money from page views.

Hi,

Glad to see you all are trying out the new UI preview! Thanks for your comments and feedback.

Part of the new UI effort is to change some terminology around Fusion 360 for some consistency. You have discovered an unfortunate side effect of this process: some items are currently inconsistent between the two UI modes.

Going forward, the intention is to provide you with one experience when you are done in a sub-environment. So you will eventually see "Finish Sketch", "Finish Form", "Finish Mesh" etc. This means "finishing the workflow I'm currently doing in the ____ environment".

Thanks again, and I'm moving this to the Preview page since it's all about the preview.

Regards,
