Hello everybody.

To use shaded view is for me not a solution.

I do not want to change colors in the model. I would like to keep model as it is and in the drawing highlight some lines, or dimensions, or make comments before export to pdf. Maybe add some circles, or rectangles, or remark clouds. I need to highlight different things(lines) for different supplier. I can not change complete model all the time.

Is there any way, or will be there any way one day?

Hi @Anonymous,

I believe what you want are shaded views. When creating a drawing view you can choose "Shaded" or "Shaded with hidden edges" outlined in red in the dialog image below. Let me know if this does not solve your problem.

... Assuming you love using Fusion360, right? ... You can just make 'the pieces of the 3D object' into black and white using Appearance(s) creating the effect by default.

So for example, for a patent submission you need a black and white 2D or 3D image, right? and if you are using Fusion360 they don't allow you to render your image that way. So to get around it, you can make your Fusion 360 image black and white using Appearance(s) (Hitting S, then A) highlighting the 'edges' you want in black and highlighting the 'surfaces' you want hidden in white -then you can print the image in black and white, and scan the printed image back to .pdf

Thank you,

Hey martin,

we also face the same problem. As we only wanted to highlight some of the modifications in the drawing with a red circle for our supplier, we made a simple work around, which might help at least a bit:

1) create a circle with desired color and thickness in adobe illustrator or similar programm

2) export it as png with transparent background

3) Insert the png in the fusion360 drawing

4) Drag it to the desired location

We inserted them also in the drawing-template we use daily. There we now have some of the basic shapes in different color to drag over the updated area which is important for our supplier.

Maybe this helps at a bit.

Best, fabian
