Hi

I was wondering if you could help with the present project I am working on. Please excuse the actual quality of the project as it has been a thinking spot with things added and removed left right and center.

I have a rear door on a frame I am trying to hinge. It has a hinge top and bottom. I have added 'as built joints' at the top and I want the bottom one to hinge to in the same way, but when I add in 'as built joints' in it locks the door in place as if the two hinges are conflicting with other.

This is what I am trying to acheive:

As you can see, the top hinge is an attached plate that can swing out and allow the door to open and it is attached so it can swing out more. I need the bottom hinge to do the same and add stability.

I assume I am doing something wrong with the 'as built joints'?

I am having trouble with attaching the file so I attached a link to it:

https://a360.co/2qwCkqS

I hope you can help.

Kind Regards

Ian

You don't need a second joint in Fusion for that purpose, stick to one, makes it simpler.

Second joint may not be perfectly aligned, to make both lock up.

I tend to agree that the pivot points for the hinges are probably not aligned.

But you should be able to use a pivot joint on just one of the hinges to the frame, and a ridged joint on each of the hinges to the door. the second hinge wouldn't need to be jointed to the frame. the pivot joint will control the motion of the door, and the ridged joints will make both hinges move with the door.

Hi

I suppose this problem is still open. I just got a system question to see if it was concluded.

I did this video to show some friends what I was doing.

The aim is to add a similar plate hinge that is on the bottom of the door so that it is supported.

My efforts adding a hinge on the bottom counter the top hinge. I would imagine both hinges as joints would work except it doesn't.

Still looking for help.

Kind Regards

Ian

Thanks for the video,

you need either a motion link, or a motion study,

totally depends on the amount of movement, and in what order, the two parts of the hinge need to go.

When that is sorted out, you can follow up with the bottom bar, as a rigid group with the top one, both will move at the same time, same way that the parts of the door has been grouped, both those bars can be grouped, (Group parts don’t have to be touching each other)

For example, make the current Revolute joint on the door, have a 90 degree Joint limit.

that way the just the door opens 90 deg. Then you keep pulling the door open, the bar has to follow, by rotating at the frame end. To animate that it is a Motion Study.

if you want to pull on the door, with the bar moving at the same time, both joints opening 90 degrees, at the same time, it would be a Motion Link. By that I mean, the door goes 90 deg to the bar, the bar goes 90 to the frame, the door can open all the way to 180 degrees if you need that.

Might help....
