Hello,

When using text in sketch mode we want to place a text on a component to e.g. engrave or laser print. After setting the text height and typing in the text the text will appear inside a construction box. We can then position the text on the component using the construction box as a reference for our position constraints.

Unfortunately the text is not the size that was entered - the construction box is the entered size but the text is smaller. This makes accurately positioning the text impossible unless you measure the text after extruding it on the component surface and then readjust the position. Also, the text is not the demanded height.

Or, have I got something wrong - pleased to hear any comments

All the best,

p,k,w

Hello,

Thank you for your reply and vidoes.

I can see many instances where putting text or numbers on a sketch is not straightforward.
In my case, I simply wanted to put a word in the centre of a rectangular bar of metal at the text height I have selected - this should be easy
and not require any major input from me or resorting to the Forum.

Clearly, from your videos the solution is not in the program but in a set of procedures you have to invent. You have worked out some of these procedures to which
I previously referred to as adjustments. Here are my adjustments to centre a text on a bar of metal at something like the text height I wanted. A text of 10mm ended
up 13.6mm fiddled to match the 10mm high construction box I made . The difference between my construction box and the text height box is cleat to see.

I fear having to do anything more complicated. But thank you for validating what I thought was a problem that Fusion have to resolve.
But I fear I will have to study your videos in greater detail.

My very best wishes,

p.k.w

Fusion 360 text handling is rather poor and it doesn't work like most text handling programs, so you'll have to learn the Fusion 360 way

It looks like the text height relationship to its bounding box is not the same as it was a year ago. It's changing dramatically between different text heights.

Hello again,

Thank you for the video - you deserve a prize!
Now I have been initiated in the perverse ways of Fusion text sizing and placement
I could sit back and watch your video with some degree of inner peace and pleasure.

Fusion is my first CAD experience, it is great leap for me but it is hard to believe things
like this when you come face to face with them.

Thank you for your time and all the trouble you have put in to answer my question.
I think we can agree, for now, it is solved as best as can be.

all the best

p.k.w
