Please attach your model as the Forum users need your model to help show you a possible solution. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

Hello Everyone,

I am creating this gear system ratchet, and I am trying to make joints to show the mechanism. I tried every combination of pairs to get the mechanism to show what I want but it is never working.

What I want it to show is that the pawl lets the ratchet rotate on one direction but engage in the other direction and rotates the gear. I have followed the steps on youtube videos but could not create the effect I want. What joints should I exactly use and with what parts so that I can show what I want? what are good tutorials to fully understand joints? I am absolutely frustrated.

Thank you

Due to the limitations of Fusion Contact Sets, I am unable to get your Pawl mechanism to work effectively. Hope someone else has better luck.

Nope! For simulating the behavior of such a mechanism, Autodesk Inventor has the right tools ... with an associated price tag 😉
