topic Re: How do you align the View Cube with model Origin? in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

It looks like in your image you may have rotated some number of components relative to each other. That is what the origin indicators are showing.

That is completely separate from the view cube. The component origin indicators will not always align with each other or the view cube if you rotate the parts in space. When you do that you are rotating the origin also.

To diagnose the view cube:

Press the face labeled front or top on the view cube.

Turn on visibility of only the top level origin indicator in the browser. Just find the highest possible folder that says "origin" on it and click the bulb on.

Is it aligned with the view cube?

If not, use the Look At command in the nav bar. Use it to look at the top level origin plane that represents "front" or "top" view.

Then right click on the view cube and use "set current view to ...." (pick front or top accordingly)

Please let me know if this helps or if you have more questions.

Regards,

Over the last couple of days something rather strange keeps happening with the View Cube when in the Model Environment of Fusion 360.

I have had many cases where the View cube just disappears without any actions taken to remove it. If I hit File/View/Reset to Default Layout it comes back.

I now have an issue where the viewcube is losing alignment with the Origin. So for example if I click "Front" on the view cube I can see that the view presented is slightly off compared with the origin.

If I click Multiple Viewports three of the four line up with the Model Origin.

I have once managed to get the View cube to align with back the origin but I now can't seem to get the View Cube to align with the Model Origin .

Any ideas how I might make this happen?

Here is a screen of the front view of the Model and a couple of Origins made visible and you may be able to see its not lining up correctly

Thanks for the reply Phil.

I don't think I have rotated the parts in space but we will see.

Next time I see it happens I will follow your instructions to try and understand what's going on.
