@Anonymous wrote:

Fusion says its has removed the line but yet the line is still there. Trim just stopped working

"Line" suggest you are talking about Sketch elements. If so, there is the possibility of multiple co-located elements in the same Sketch, providing for the possibility something was trimmed, but without any readily apparent change. Or there may be aligned elements in other Sketches. Or some portion of the Sketch may be protected by Constraints or Links. Or you may be talking about Sketch elements that were created while Capture of Design History was dispensed with, then turned back on- it's really hard to say, so thinly described, without screencast or illustrations.

there is a message that shows "compute failed";

Now, that suggests you aren't talking about Sketch elements at all, but are attempting to, perhaps, delete some portion of a surface or Body. Some representations are like a house of cards, dependent on constituents to exist; is that the case here? I have no basis for saying.

however the delete button somewhat works

What does that even really mean? Qualify "somewhat".

and if you hold the trim button

Most (all?) tools are toggled- not held active; the exception to this is modification keys, such as Ctrl, Alt, etc. So, "hold the trim button" doesn't translate to a Fusion action that I understand.

until it turns into a box it will then trim

You might be describing a selection process, not application of the Trim tool, in that moment.

however that way is very long

Your expectations of required time investment may or may not be reasonable. There may or may not be a workflow that delivers the desired result more efficiently. Since there is no indication as to what in particular is "very long", there is no basis for determination.

and doesn't allow for smaller detailed lines.

Now it sounds like you're talking about Sketch elements again, and, maybe, the previous word salad described Deleting groups of elements after Window Selecting them. Or maybe not. Perhaps I should have just written "huh?" here.

Getting on my last nerve!

I know exactly how you feel.

I want to start off with my new computer is 100% up to date and up to the standards fusion 360 needs to operate. I ended up deleting that project and starting over (which worked fine) I'm now done. However fusion freezes up on us everyday. Sometimes many times per day. I only use the sketch part of fusion for CAM. Very simple stuff. I have not had that specific problem happen again through any other sketches. On the other hand, I do have problems with the trim delaying 10 - 30 seconds or longer per trim (per delete). So if you have an import drawing you have to trim 120 small lines from, well 30 sec per trim takes a very, very, long time. And most of the time 15 trims into it (after waiting 10 -30 sec per trim) Fusion will just stop responding all together. You would have to pray a lot and even cuss a little and open it again. I have lost many projects to this. I just don't understand why it works one day then one day it doesn't! I couldn't imagine using the other parts of fusion that can be more detailed than a 2-D drawing. I'm sorry I don't have any pictures or video; if someone walked me through I could try. I do still have the original drawing that I had to start over, that started this post.

We can’t see what you are talking about, but...

Your delays are expected behaviour in complex sketches being edited.

edit to Finished before the dxf import in external software, for your expected performance.

Every edit requires Fusion to establish new and compliant constraints.

Other wise, Extrude a body with the required face.

Might help....

Hi - If I select trim on a simple 2-d sketch and hold down the left side mouse the trim will go from a small blue x to a small blue box, while still holding the mouse drag over any line or point and it will trim right away. You can trim a lot of things fast. …………………………. When I was talking about the delete button (or selector) - So when I couldn't trim anymore I moved to just simply deleting things I would select. 1/2 the time it would delete 1/2 the time it would not. very random. It wasn't because I had multiple lines on top of each other. That would be the first thing to check. I would draw a simple line to check and couldn't erase that one single line. The only other thing I could add to this was I did notice it happened after importing a font and fix and unfix didn't help maybe even made worst. thx for all your import.

My hubby and I now use fusion 360 almost everyday to make items on a plasma cutting table. So I am learning. Hope I do this right for you to see. We also only use so far .jpg / .png / .svg or .dxf files and our machine only reads .tap files. I got all that down other than that not sure what or how to use other files FYI.
