Hello. I finally figured out fusion!!!! to the extent to where I now know how to make something (shocker)...I stopped following tutorials to a T and instead just watched what each function does, and applied it to what I want to do. Simple, less confusion.

However, I was going ham making a product, and two small issues are hanging me up, these are self inflicted of course.
I need to know how to merge a ton of bodies (rookie error) into ONE.
Right now, I have over hundreds, due to me attempting to make holes for my cheese grater. I got the look, however, my computer becomes un-responsive when I try to select the specific feature.
I put all of the bodies into one component, which in hindsight, was a bad idea...I was just adamant on making holes, and I totally forgot the smaller details.

Anywho, I attached my god awful file to the forum, anyone making a small video showing how to combine everything into one body, instead of having hundreds of small bodies, would be the best person ever. (component 1:1, 3:1, and 2:1...It's a cluster f of epic proportions....I can see Peter Doering having an aneurysm over my stupidity already).
Also, a small show case on how to make the "graters" with out screwing up royally like I did, for future reference.

Needless to say, I actually enjoyed making my model up to this point and ran into no real issues like I normally do, until I shot myself in the foot.

Creating a new component in the Combine|Join operation works.

NVM, I just made a new sketch on the body face and made a rectangle and cut it. that solved my issue. Much thanks to the fusion masters.

Might you be able to help me with the one small thing? I've never come across how to actually do this, but I have a top part (main grater body) and a lower body. I need the split part of the lower body to sit flush inside the main body of the cheese grater, while the "lower" part of the split body remains flush with the main cheese grater body.
I've attempted offsetting the top portion of the split body, even attempted to resize it, but to no avail (resizing the top split portion of the base causes a space between the lower split body of the base).

I've attached a file and video (and reference images) explaining what I mean by this.

Here is my version of your grater with a few less steps and components. I think most graters have the cutting edges staggered so I took the liberty with that aspect. Best of luck.

Interesting concept. I like how you mention the staggered edges, I wanted to do that, but seems like I went too deep into the process and shifting them over would be near impossible at this point, lest I go through the whole process of creating the cutting edges.

When I look at your Project Browser and your Time Line, my first reaction is that while you have figured out Fusion at a basic level, you haven't yet figured out how to think ahead about your desired geometry and how to use the tools efficiently to get it.

So I threw together something similar. Examine my Project Browser and Time Line. Compare them to yours. Now, I'm not expecting you, as a beginner, to have a deep and thorough understanding of desirable workflow just yet. I'm just pointing out what should be a goal for you as you progress through the learning curve.

The first loft was just a half cone on the surface as a Join.

The second loft was a half cone to the INSIDE surface as a cut.

The top edge of the two lofted cones was coincident. But the bottom points of the two cones were separated by the thickness of the base. So the result is that the cutting cone is thin at the top edge, and gets thicker as it goes down. Here is a picture of the second loft.

I just did it quick and dirty like that to make the point. This geometry is NOT easily manufactured, and not very strong especially where the cutting edge meets the flat surface. I imagine it would get ripped out after a bit of grating with some hard cheese. That's why MOST mass produced graters you see will be die stamped holes instead of something like this.

If you want to make a pretty expensive, milled grater plate, you will want to do something like this, where you mill the conical bosses first, then mill through them with a tapered bit, then chamfer the sharp edge.
