topic Fill the gap? in Fusion Design, Validate & Document Forum

This is going to be a very trivial question for some but I'm very new to CAD and I can't seem to find a good method to achieve what I'm looking for...

Essentially, I'm trying to create a spout feature on a cylinder as shown but of course, when you edit the form of the cylinder, it doesn't pull the face itself but creates a new one almost and leaves the original behind creating a gap and leaving the original face

What would be the best way/correct tool to pull the face itself and retain the thickness of the cylinder so there were no gaps or solid objects in the way?

Many thanks in advance!

Please attach your model. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

Here's the model I'm trying to work with

Since you developed the surface shape you desired, continue with it and ignore the solid body. From the attached model you can add other feature, fillet the bottom, etc.

Edit: If you want an absolutely flat top, I added a second model.

Brilliant, thank you for that explanation! I understand now

I see I was completely trying to over-complicate the problem... 🙂
