Projection onto complicated body can't extrude.

I have the following body and I projected a sketch onto the body but I am unable to extrude the closed areas. The point of the sketch was to extrude the details into the body by a few mm. But it appears that the lines are not connected? Can someone help me and explain a way to either close the lines so I can extrude or properly project the sketch onto the body so I can.

I used project onto body and chose tangent using the z axis.

Extrude only accepts planer curves so your projeded curves are not valid for extrusions.

Use your original sketch and extrude using To Object and chain faces. Like this for cut.

Or for extruded either draw the sketch inside the part of use From and select a plane inside the part like this. See attached file.
