how to taper/blend the end of a coil into a cylinder, please help

Ok please forgive me if this isn't the correct place to ask this, any help finding the answer is appreciated.

I have searched and searched yet still cannot seem to find the answer.

I am designing a part with a custom screw (not a custom shaped screw, just a normal triangle shape on the outside of a cylinder). First I have modeled the cylinder, then I model a coil around it with the triangle on the outside (like a normal screw). My question is this, how do I taper/blend the ends of the coil into the cylinder?

The way I have been doing it seems overly complicated. I have been creating a construction plane on the ends then splitting the body (of the coil only) then sketching an arc curving into the cylinder and then sweeping the end of the coil along the sketched arc. I was watching a youtube demo and one of the comments claimed fusion 360 would automatically do this if you delete the face, I cannot seem to do this.

Is there an easier way to taper the end of a coil?

Machine screw or wood screw or some other type of screw?

Machine screws normally just have a chamfer on the end. You can use the Revolve tool to make a chamfer. The chamfer can cover multiple threads on the screw.

Wood screws are cone shaped. You can use the Sweep tool in the Patch workspace to create a helix which is then used to split a cone. The split cone becomes the path used to create the tapered screw.

the first comment on this video is what made me question this process.

This is basically what I have been doing, it just seems as though there should be a better way. This way is very convoluted. I figured this would be a very common problem and that a simple solution should exist.

here is a basic example of my problem, see attached. (See first attachment: demo of coil screw)

I have found another way but still not what I'm looking for using a fillet command, but this rounds the edge. (See second attachment: Demo coil screw with fillet edge)

Is there a way to scale down the coil starting at a specific point along the edge?

Just curious if I were making a screw cap where the interior was hollow does this also lead the coil inwards, meaning I would still have to delete the end that protrudes through the wall? I will try out your example and see when I get a chance.

I can't help but feel there is a very simple solution still out there almost like a check box something like " Taper the ends of the coil - yes/no". Is there a way to suggest this to Autodesk?

Sure, just not in Fusion 360 😉

You can suggest that in the idea station but my feeling us that it is unlikely to be implemented any time soon.
