Hi,

I imported an irregular shape as mesh by importing .OBJ file into Fusion 360.

After having successfully converted the mesh into a solid object, now im faced with new problems.

When I try to extrude something into the object, I get the following error message:

"Inconsistent information in vertex and coedge attributes".

Why can´t the irregular shape start behaving like any solid created directly in fusion?

I will attach the f3D file here.

Kind Regards,

Christian

How was the object created? It looks like it has already been re-meshed into a quad mesh in another software. Is that true?

Do you use the paid, or the free subscription?

The paid subscription allows you to convert the original imported mesh into a solid using the "organic" option.

Which results in a smooth, non-faceted solid.

IF you use the free version only the "faceted" option is available an is by far the worst method to convert such a organic mesh into a solid body.

In that case I would use either Blender's quadri-remesher or Instant Meshes to remesh that mesh into a better quad mesh, import that into Fusion, convert it into a T-Spline and then BRep (solid).

The reason I asked the initial question is that the mesh already is a quad-mesh, but it's topology/patch layout is unfavorable for a direct T-Spline conversion. If the originating software has another remesher option, that might be an alternative.

@christian_andersson_urm23 wrote:

...

Why can´t the irregular shape start behaving like any solid created directly in fusion?

.

Because the mesh appears to be a very thin walled object. That is what @jhackney1972 is trying to show in the screenshot and is also what I observe in Blender.

The organic mesh conversion method in Fusion simply ignores those almost duplicate vertices. In Blender i deleted them (merge by distance).and then I used the Qudri-Remesher.

That returns a super clean quad mesh that converts fine into a T-Spline and then BRep when imported in Fusion.

Thank you very much for the info and for the file!!

I have an educational licence and i see now im granted 30-days for using the organic import function. I will use the file you sent me and if I need to make another import I will make sure to try the organic option.

Kind Regards,

Christian
