Hi,

I am unable to dimension features on page 2 of this drawing. The part is at a weird angle in the assembly, so I created copies of the body and used "Align" to square the copies with the origin before placing them in the drawing environment. Is there a better way to do this so I can fully dimension the drawing?

The F3d file is attached. The F2d drawing is here: https://a360.co/2ReUJVC

Thanks!

Hi Adam,

I think what you are looking for is the following.

In your model, click 'look at' and select the face of your part you want as your base view in your drawing.

Now in the browser, right click on views and select 'save view'.

You now have the perpendicular view saved and can use it as base view in the drawing workspace.

Can't make a screencast right now, hope this helps.

Regards, Peter

Hi guys. Thanks for the responses. I was still unable to dimension to the body, but I WAS able to dimension to the sketches. Perhaps not perfect, but it works! Thanks very much for the help.

With the warnings and all those save positions and aligns Fusion might be getting confused. You should have a read of the Rule #1 thread. Save Positions are a bit of a timebomb and misused, you should be able to make your design without any moves, aligns or save position. Built with components and joints you'll get a more reliable design and a more stable Fusion.

Has this been pulled out of a bigger design?

Yes, I pulled this out of an assembly with 30 parts or so. I know what you mean about the "time bomb." I have had to start over with a clean assembly before. Rules #1 and #2 are definitely good advice!
