align objects on a non-orthogonal plane

I need to align the center of a light source to the center of a mirror that was constructed on a plane tilted 45° to the light beam. I thought of using the sketch projection feature, but that appears to always project objects orthogonally to the sketch plane. Is there a clean parametric way of resolving this, or do I have to resort to brute-force trigonometry? Many thanks for any help/hint!

Have you made all the parts as individual components and followed Rule #1? You should be able to project a point on to a sketch created on the angled plane, then add a joint origin in the correct orientation. Then use a rigid joint between the back of the mirror and the joint origin.

Thank you! Are you saying that I should create the mirror and first place it orthogonally to the light source using a projected point, and only then tilt it using a rigid joint? Just making sure I understand...

After mocking up a simple model I think I see the problem. Does the screencast below help. You can't just use a constitution point on the plane because its orientation XYZ are not perpendicular with the plane so I created a sketch on the plane and projected the construction point on to it.

I don't really like the method above but if you are working with existing components you'll need something similar. Here's another way building the mirror inplace. This way seems a lot cleaner way of doing it with less features.
